Excursions – A full day excursion to Chatham Historic Dockyard, including a Call The Midwife Tour. You will have chance to explore the dockyards and get behind the scenes of the official Call The Midwife locations and all the back stage information you don’t see on the completed show. Walk in the footsteps of the characters of the drama.
A full day to London is your second excursion day. The capital of England, a 21st-century city steeped in history stretching back to Roman times. At its centre stand the imposing Houses of Parliament, the iconic ‘Big Ben’ clock tower and Westminster Abbey, site of British monarch coronations. Across the Thames River, the London Eye observation wheel provides panoramic views of the South Bank cultural complex, and the entire city. The perfect place to visit, from iconic arrays of sightseeing spots, to top restaurants, theatres and unmissable events London has it all!
Eastbourne & Chartwell Mon 5th – Fri 9th August 2024
Your first excursion will take you to Chartwell House situated in Kent. For over forty years it was the home of Winston Churchill. The historic house and buildings are beautifully restored and maintained, full of Churchill memorabilia and his belongings. It was a playground for the Churchill’s children and a family home since they moved in 1924, suited as a treasured private countryside recluse for a public man. There are also the extensive gardens & studio. Perfect for a day of exploring and divulging into a residence steeped in lengthy history!
Worthing is our second excursion for your South Coast break. One of the biggest seaside towns on the South Coast, Worthing is a lively destination for shopping, eating, entertainment and family fun by the seaside! It's perfectly located to explore the award-winning beaches and seafront of the Worthing coast, as well as the stunning landscape of the South Downs. It has three theatres and one of Britain's oldest cinemas, the Dome. Also popularly known for Writers such as Oscar Wilde and Harold Pinter who lived and worked in the town.
Weymouth in Summer Mon 19th – Fri 23rd August 2024
What about a lovely steam train ride? Your excursion will be Swanage, with its iconic steam railway, a gorgeous beach in a sweeping bay, and plenty of nearby nature, there's lots to keep visitors busy. It's easy to see why this is one of the most popular towns in Dorset. (Steam Train Included)
You will also have a day excursion to Dorchester. Dorchester is not only Dorset's county town but also the birthplace of famous author and poet Thomas Hardy. The town enjoys a rich history dating back as far as the Iron Age and is home to the Roman Town House, the finest example of its kind in Britain. With its elegant 18th century houses, broad walks and bustling shopping streets, Dorchester has much to offer.
Scotland Weekender Fri 13th – Mon 16th Sept 2024
A lovely Hotel with beautiful views of the surrounding areas, exquisite food which is locally sourced and entertainment is included. Aberfoyle is a charming village on the banks of the River Forth, stunning views and magnificent scenery which include the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park. It is situated on the Southern Gateway of the Trossach’s and boasts traditional Victorian architecture. It is a popular holiday village with an attractive main street served well by shops, cafes and restaurants.
Stirling is one of our chosen excursion for this weekender, renowned as the Gateway to the Highlands and is generally regarded as occupying a strategic position at the point where the flatter, largely undulating Scottish Lowlands meet the rugged slopes of the Highlands along the Highland Boundary Fault. Steeped in rich history, and is home to many historical sites and landmarks, including Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument.
Your second day visit is Perth. Once upon a time, Perth was the capital of Scotland and a picturesque playground for kings and queens. It was a primary residence for monarchs, and it was where the Royal Court was held. It was tradition for the monarchs of Scotland to be crowned in Perth for hundreds of years. Today, the city is laced with gorgeous city architecture, unrivalled surrounding landscapes and an intriguing royal history.
